Laying rest to the rumours

As the indomitable Mark Twain once said," . . . the report of my death was an exaggeration", so too are the rumours regarding the sale of two Manitou Beach businesses - Dancelend and the Manitou Springs Hotel and Mineral Spa. Phone calls to each business the morning of Friday, Sept. 8 clarified the situation at both.

While Danceland has had a realtor's sign posted outside its door for a period of time it has not been sold. "There is nothing to the rumour," stated Millie Strueby, co-owner of Dancelend. "We are not negotiating with anybody and we haven't heard from anyone in Regina." Although the renowned landmark remains for sale and has been viewed since it was put on the market, there is no sale pending and the Struebys remain the proprietors.

In regards to the Manitou Springs Hotel and Mineral Spa, manager Lorne Jones stated, "There is no truth to it. I think it's been mixed up with Temple Gardens in Moose Jaw." Earlier this year Temple Gardens Mineral Spa made the news when changes occurred at the ownership level. Jones caught owner Dale Hayter who was on his way out the door at the time of the phone call and offered him the opportunity to speak directly to the question. Hayter chose to have Jones relay the message that the rumour is absolute nonsense and he has no intention of selling the spa.
